Day 12 - Elliott Heads to Home

For the first time in nearly two weeks, we awoke to rain and wind. Packing up in the wet is never any fun, but we managed, and a dry set of clothes was in order before heading off for home 350Km away at 9:15am. Topped up with fuel at Bundy on the way out, followed the backroad to Childers via Greenwood to save going through the Bundy CBD. Very scenic, with crops of Macadamia trees, pumpkins, potatoes, and of course the obligatory sugar cane.

Stopped at Gympie Red Rooster to top our own fuel up and have a break just south of town at a rest area. A few stretches for the driver and we resumed the run home.

Arrived home at 2pm after enjoying a dual lane highway all the way from Gympie to home.

Spent a bit of time emptying the car and van of most of their contents, and a well earned rest in familiar surroundings.

Big shout out to the navigator, who rose to challenges she never expected to encounter, and was an enormous help at each and every site guiding me in and out of the hookup procedure, splitting duties inside and outside the van, and keeping the dialogue and banter going throughout the trip - truly enjoyable trip!

For the technically inclined, we covered 3,440 Km, averaged a fuel consumption of 17.4Km/100Km, burnt through 598L of fuel, towing ~2750Kg of caravan, at a fuel cost of ~$718 (inc. GST of course!)
